Municipal Davia Bargellini Museum

Municipal Industrial Art Museum and Davia Bargellini Gallery

Founded in 1924 by the count Francesco Malaguzzi Valeri, it stemmed from an art gallery preserved in the 17th century Palace that once belonged to the Bargellini family and then to the Davia family. It is a unique example of the ancient senatorial collecting practise. According to the founder’s intentions, the paintings had to be set together with objects and furnishings coming either from the antiques market or from donations. The Museum holds paintings by the Bolognese school dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries, as well as interesting Renaissance incised slipware, fabrics, tapestries, wrought iron, and Bolognese crèche statuettes.
