The study of anatomy is deeply-rooted in the tradition of the city. It dates from the early 14th century, since the times of Mondino de’ Liuzzi, who was one of the early pioneers who practiced cadaver dissection to study human anatomy.

Casa Carducci
Giosue Carducci lived in this house from 1890 until his death (1907). The monument to the poet, sculpted by Leonardo Bistolfi (1928), can still be admired in the garden.
